I dreamt I had a lot of pins in my mouth. – Farewell to the Richters; it was confirmed that the concert in Pest will take place after the one in Vienna. That which does not belong together falls apart, no matter how closely it has come together; I feel sure that Richter will now follow a different path. He did not understand R. at all with regard to Mr. Glatz. –

Richter explained that Materna almost lost the opportunity for the Bayreuth performances; she was about to sign a contract with an impresario that would have made her unavailable for years! When one considers all the possibilities that could still destroy our endeavor, one feels weak. – –

Very lovely letter from the singer Schlosser. In the evening, a small gathering—Beethoven’s C major quartet, the “Egmont Overture”, and “Coriolan”.
