Second rehearsal; the tubas are indeed here, but Richter forgot to have the harp parts copied. Resolved not to go to Pest, at least not to give a concert there. A mutinous spirit in the orchestra; because these people always have poor conductors, who can only maintain their position due to their weakness, discipline has completely disappeared. They also have so much to do, concerts, theater every evening (before always empty houses, due to the general bankruptcy), that their irritability can be forgiven. Many things already turn out wonderfully today, and the orchestra is better than it was three years ago.
After the first rehearsal, a session at Lenbach’s. Saw Marie Muchanoff’s portrait! … In the evening, a quiet night at home, also the whole day, unpleasant domestic news; arrangements to be made.
